They Came to See and it Rained (but we made do)!

The Fourth of July... the best patriotic holiday we have...and it rained! Bummer!

But we had so much fun partying with the Whitakers!

For those of you who don't know the Whitakers, they are good friends of ours who happen to be in our Ward. The have kids similar ages to ours, and we love to spend time with them. So for the Fourth we all met up at their house in the early evening with the intention of eating some munchies...playing a game and then heaeding over to Buck Thomas park for the city's fireworks display.

Alas...it rained and the fireworks were cancelled. But we made do!

We ate our hors d'orvers (AKA...sugar cookies)

Kim and I introduced the girls to the Top Gun Volleyball scene:

We played games...we laughed and then we heard the neighborhood shooting off fireworks and headed outside...in the rain...to watch.

We sparkled a bit...

We avoided the police while we shot off a few of our own (courtesy of Dad's stash of leftovers from last year)...and then cleaned up.

And it wouldn't be a great evening unless there were small child meltdowns and we had several...so we called it a night and headed home. Thanks Brian, Kim, Katana, Tyson, Nick and Cooper for sharing the Fourth with us!

We are so grateful to live in the United States of America!

HA! I know why you put in that volleyball scene! And it has nothing to DO with volleyball!
